A group of German-French historians visited UNESCO on 21st June 2023. Within the context of the summer academy of the German Historical Institute Paris (DHIP), young researchers investigated innovative perspectives on the history of international relations during the 19th and 20th century.

Dr. Jens Streckert from the German Permanent delegation gave the research group insights into UNESCO as a place of multilateral diplomacy and he explained the history, tasks and geopolitical conflicts of this UN organisation. The visit ended with a guided tour of the UNESCO headquarters and a final discussion.

The summer academy of the DHIP was organised in cooperation with the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Marburg.
