Germany supports various UNESCO World Heritage activities

Germany supports various UNESCO World Heritage activities with a voluntary contribution of 600.000 Euros.

On 1st December 2023, Mr Lazare Eloundo Assomo, the director of the World Heritage Centre, and Mrs Kerstin Pürschel, Ambassador and Permanent delegate of Germany to UNESCO, signed a funding agreement in Paris

This agreement will permit funding of capacity building projects in small island development states and in Africa, World Heritage education programmes as well as a third cycle of periodical reporting on World Heritage for Europe/North America.

Since 1976, Germany has been a contracting state of the Convention for the Protection of the World’s Cultural and Natural Heritage and it is one of the strongest partners in its successful implementation.
